COORDINATED CARE

Coordinated Care With Your Therapist

When you work with both a therapist and a psychiatric provider, it helps when they understand what you’re working toward. At Ubuntu Psychotherapy Group, we can coordinate with your therapist, primary care provider, or other members of your care team—with your permission—so your care reflects your needs and goals.

What coordination can look like

Your therapist and psychiatric provider bring different perspectives to your care. Your therapist may help you build coping skills, work through difficult experiences, or recognize patterns that affect your daily life. Your psychiatric provider can evaluate your symptoms, discuss whether medication may be helpful, and monitor how you’re doing if medication becomes part of your treatment plan.

For example, if you’re working on sleep and anxiety in therapy, your providers can share relevant updates about changes you’ve noticed and what still feels difficult. This gives each provider more context when discussing next steps with you.

You have a say in what’s shared

Before coordinating with another provider, we’ll talk with you about who you’d like involved, what information would be helpful to share, and why. You can ask questions and let us know your preferences. Coordination may focus on specific concerns, such as treatment goals, changes in symptoms, medication side effects, or follow-up needs.

You can get started wherever you are

You don’t need to be in therapy to request a psychiatric evaluation. If you already have a therapist outside Ubuntu, you can continue working with them while receiving psychiatric care with us. If you’re interested in starting therapy, our intake team can help you explore your options.
